Dr. Zabrodski has over 40 years of experience in various aspects of medicine, including the assessment of occupational fitness to work as well as impairment and dis/ability for various legal, corporate and government clients. At the University of Calgary, Cumming School of Medicine, he is a clinical assistant professor in the departments of Community Health Sciences and Family Medicine. He is a longstanding member of the Occupational and Environmental Association of Canada and the Canadian Board of Occupational Medicine. In 2017, after serving 30 years as a Transport Canada certified civil aviation medical examiner, he resigned from this position and accepted an appointment to the Transportation Appeals Tribunal of Canada.
Dr. Zabrodski received in Bachelors of Science degree from McMaster University in 1977 and his medical degree form the University of Calgary in 1980. He then obtained his certification in family medicine in 1982 and in 1983 obtained a certificate of special competence in emergency medicine, both from the Canadian College of Family Physicians. He later received his certification in occupational medicine from the Canadian Board of Occupational Medicine in 1997. He is a fellow of the International Academy of Independent Medical Evaluators (formerly known as the American Academy of Disability Evaluating Physicians). He was a certified medical review officer regarding drug testing in the workplace for over twenty years. In 2014, he completed the Insurance Medicine and Medical Legal Expertise diploma, a 2-year program offered through the Université de Montréal. As per the Alberta Automobile minor injury regulations, he is a registered certified examiner.
Dr. Zabrodski is currently duly qualified as a specialist in family medicine with a special interest in occupational medicine and is licensed to practice in the province of Alberta.
In Alberta, Dr. Zabrodski has provided expert testimony on behalf of the plaintiff and defence with respect to personal injury, occupational injury, fitness to work issues, alcohol and substance abuse, and drug testing in the workplace. His curriculum vitae is available upon request.

In his past life, Dr. Z spent his summers working for the Ontario Ministry of the environment collecting samples. This involved scuba diving back when a “dive computer” was a watch and a “pressure gauge” was J valve. He has also been a licenced ham radio operator since 1970 (the original social media venue) and still knows morse code (VE6GK). Dr. Z is a former competitive sailplane pilot who achieved instructor and IFR ratings as well the FAI gold badge with two diamonds. Dr. Z is currently an avid golfer and has a special interest in golf related medical conditions. He is a Certified Titleist Performance Institute Golf Fitness Instructor and past Medical Director for the Shaw Charity Classic, the Champions Tour event held every August at the Canyon Meadows Golf Club in Calgary, Alberta.
